EvoHub

Nagios alerts, routed to the right on-call engineer

Receive Nagios host/service alerts via HTTP notification command. EvoHub turns each Nagios alert into an on-call alert, runs it through your escalation policy, and pages people by voice call, mobile push and email.

How the Nagios integration works

  1. Create a Nagios integration in EvoHub On-Call and pick the escalation policy it should notify.
  2. EvoHub gives the integration its own URL (or inbound address) with a unique key — paste it into Nagios using the steps below.
  3. Each Nagios alert opens an EvoHub alert, and your escalation policy pages the on-call person — then the next step if nobody acknowledges.
  4. Resolves automatically on a Nagios RECOVERY notification.

Set up Nagios

Create the integration in EvoHub first — it shows your personal integration URL to paste below.

# 1. Add this notification command to commands.cfg — paste as-is
# ($XXX$ parts are Nagios macros, filled automatically):
define command {
  command_name  notify-evohub
  command_line  /usr/bin/curl -s -X POST "<your EvoHub integration URL>" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"host":"$HOSTNAME
quot;,"service":"$SERVICEDESC
quot;,"state":"$SERVICESTATE
quot;,"notification_type":"$NOTIFICATIONTYPE
quot;,"output":"$SERVICEOUTPUT
quot;}' } # 2. Set notify-evohub as the service_notification_commands # of the contact your services notify. # For host alerts: use $HOSTSTATE$ / $HOSTOUTPUT$ and # leave "service" empty. # Tip: if a check's output may contain quotes, use a small # wrapper script that JSON-escapes it — raw quotes in # $SERVICEOUTPUT$ can break the -d JSON.
